Historical championship result
Experience from the competition field
In 2017, Marc and his German Shepherd, Irck de la Hutte du Berger, won the SV Bundessiegerprüfung in Oberhausen. Their score was 289 out of 300: 100 in Tracking, 93 in Obedience and 96 in Protection, earning an Excellent rating.
The result shows a team performing across the complete trial. For handlers preparing for Johannesburg, that is a useful reminder: every phase contributes to the final picture, and preparation has to hold together from the track to the protection field.
Representing Germany internationally
Later that year, Marc and Irck represented Germany at the WUSV World Championship in Tilburg, the Netherlands. His place in the German team adds international competition experience to his national championship achievement.
Competing at that level means taking prepared work into an unfamiliar setting, with the pressure of a major event. South African teams face their own version of that challenge each time they enter a trial.
From handler to judge
SV Landesgruppe Saarland lists Marc as a Leistungsrichter, or performance judge. Its published 2025 regional trial notice also records his appointment to judge Tracking at Quierschied.
His competition record gives spectators useful context for the person carrying the clipboard in Johannesburg. Watch the teams, listen to the assessments where available, and follow how the individual phase scores build into an overall result.
